Version 2.1 of Team Foundation Server Administration Tool has been released :http://tfsadmin.codeplex.com/

Now it uses TFS 2010 object model, therefore no more need of Team Explorer 2008 + SP1 + Forward Compatibility Update!!!

To be downloaded immediately

Some customers asked me if it was possible to make a Work Item modifiable only by the Assigned To user in order to be able to replace their trouble ticketing system with a solution based on TFS. This is not feasible by default in TFS.

A simple alternative solution can be achieved using TFS security in order to:

  • let the user be able to use only a Work Item Query showing only Work Item assigned to him
  • disable possibility of creating new query

In this way from any Team Foundation Server client, users will only see their own tickets.

In case of migration from a previous version of TFS (as I described in my previous post: XYZ) Sharepoint part is not present.

In this casi you can import it from the previous Sharepoint or you can create a new one from scratch.

In both cases you can follow these steps:

  • open Team Foundation Server Administration Console, selezionare Application Tier –> Team Project Collections
  • select the project collection to be modified
  • select tab Sharepoint Site
  • press Edit Default Site Location
  • select Sharepoint Web Application that will host the Site Collection
  • select Relative Path

At this point if you have imported the previous Site Collection, press OK and operation is completed, otherwise administraion console will ask you if a new Site Collection must be created in the given URL (i.e. sites/MigratedCollection), press Yes and you’re done.
